Ian Mattoch is listed in the exclusive Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. This register lists only those select lawyers and law firms that have earned the AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest rating awarded by other attorneys.
Since 2013, Ian has been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in medical malpractice and product liability in the State of Hawaii by Best Lawyers of America. This award was published in US News and Honolulu Magazine’s Best Lawyers magazines. In addition, he has been included in the top 10 percent of the nation’s highly recognized professionals known as American’s Most Honored Professionals. Not only was Ian included in the top 10% of the legal profession, but the top 10% of all professions. Ian is honored to be a part of both of these distinguished groups.
Ian Mattoch represents the third generation of his family to live in Hawai`i. He graduated from Punahou School in 1961, Occidental College in 1965, and Northwestern University Law School in 1968. He has sponsored more than thirty seminars on medical-legal issues and has been a speaker at numerous local and mainland conferences on the litigation of personal injury claims.
Through his representation of persons with traumatic brain injury, Ian has become a strong supporter and active Board Member of the Brain Injury Association of Hawai`i. Ian has served as Legal Counsel, past Treasurer and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Hawai`i. This “in-the-trenches” participation has contributed to Ian’s knowledge of political issues, resources and understanding the needs of persons with traumatic brain injury.
Concurrently, Ian serves on the Board of Directors for the Neurotrauma Advisory Board for the State of Hawai`i’s Department of Health. Ian is also actively involved with state and national legislative issues for persons with traumatic brain injury.
Ian is pleased to report that, with the help of numerous individuals, the Brain Injury Resource Center (BIRC) has become a reality in the State of Hawaii.
